Stitch workshop and Work in progress: Emily Dawson

The project continues, with the students coming back after the Christmas break to secons stitch workshop, tutor Hannah Maughan explains:

"The 10 students regrouped after the college break and spent a day working together perfecting the technicalities of the stitches with the help of Irene, the Technical Instructor. 

The students also showed each other their research work and discussed their personal approach to the project. Colour was a focus for all, with palettes ranging from neon brights to monochrome and pastels.

The type of fabrics are also of importance, with some students being clear that they will be working with fabrics they have left over from previous projects or with fabrics that  have been passed down to them through their families – this reflects the Lambani approach to sustainable practise. 

The context of the work is beginning to be discussed and students are encouraged to research into  contemporary interior and fashion companies that would suggest new markets to target and design for."

It's really interesting to see the breadth of ideas being generated. Over the next few days we're going to be uploading tasters of the great work being produced.
